Lake Wörthersee
One of the warmest swimming lakes in the Alps: lidos in Klagenfurt, Pörtschach and Velden, plus stand-up paddling, sailing, boat hire and scheduled boat services across the whole lake.

Mountains in the morning, the lake in the afternoon, the inn in the evening – in Carinthia, everything is close together.
From Maria Saal you are by the water in a quarter of an hour and in the Nock Mountains in an hour.
One of the warmest swimming lakes in the Alps: lidos in Klagenfurt, Pörtschach and Velden, plus stand-up paddling, sailing, boat hire and scheduled boat services across the whole lake.
An easy walk across the Zollfeld plain, or a more demanding climb up the Magdalensberg or the Ulrichsberg – both with sweeping views over the Klagenfurt basin.
The Zollfeld is flat and ideal for relaxed rides between Roman stones and fields. If you want more, ride all the way to Lake Wörthersee.
Several golf courses lie within half an hour, including near Klagenfurt and at Lake Längsee. Riding stables can be found all around the Zollfeld.

Wildflowers, vines, a fountain – and a quiet seat where the day draws to a close.
Maria Saal is conveniently placed between several ski areas. You drive there in the morning and come back in the evening to a quiet house – with no après-ski outside your window.
When it is cold enough, skating on the frozen Carinthian lakes is one of the finest experiences in the region. And Klagenfurt's old town is well worth an afternoon during Advent.

A café and a traditional inn are within walking distance – all within 100 to 200 metres. By the car park there is a farm shop open around the clock: handy if you arrive late or want something fresh in the morning.
Local specialities you should try include Kärntner Kasnudeln (Carinthian filled pasta), Reindling (a yeast cake) and cheese from the Nock Mountains.
The Carinthian State Museum and the Museum of Modern Art are both in the city centre, eight kilometres away.
Carinthia's thermal spas – in Villach or Bad Kleinkirchheim, for example – are around an hour away.
Thick walls, a book, coffee from your own kitchen. Some rainy days are made for exactly that.

We will have everything else ready – including tips you will not find in any guidebook.
